Cars are so cool! Well, they are to me anyway. For decades some of the most innovative technology has emerged on top of four wheels. That is partially why so many of us are gear heads with a mechanic’s heart. The other reason has to do with going really fast!
Just think of what you can do on your cell phone these days, it truly is pretty exciting. So what will happen as the most extreme and exciting technology shifts from vehicles to communications – focusing on everything from cell phones to computers and video technology?
It’s simple . . . cars will still rule because we will just keep putting the groovy stuff in and on the cars.
Don’t get me wrong. Technology in the actual vehicle is still growing by leaps and bounds, but we see a lot of it in kind of boring areas. Fuel economy and safety make up most of the advances and frankly while they are truly needed, they are not really fun. Many vehicles have a network of computers frequently with as many as 50 or more modules. They control your anti-lock brakes, headlights, wipers, windows, engine performance and a myriad of other items.
These complicated systems are challenging for everyone from the engineers who develop them to the technicians who fix them.
Join me this week as we work our way through the technology that makes the newest cars safer, more efficient, and even fun.
happy driving,
That Car Lady
